Carles Esquembre Muñoz will take part in Helsinki Comics Festival programme as a remote guest.

Carles Esquembre Muñoz is an author and illustrator from Valencia, living in Alicante, Spain. He studied visual arts and comics creation at the Escola Joso in Barcelona, and has worked as a freelance illustrator and storyboard producer for Dacsa Producciones, Taules Teatre, Timelapse Creative Agency, and Rumores Factory.

His first comic was The Body (2013), which was followed by the graphic novel Lorca: Un poeta en Nueva York, published in 2016 by Panini. He illustrated La Brigada Lincoln in 2018 (script by Pablo Durá and color by Ester Salguero), and his work has also been included in anthologies like Visiones del Fin (Atleta, 2015) and the collaborative volume Diferente: 140 artistas. Una única historia (Planeta Cómic, 2019).

Most recently, he worked as colorist for Cavan Scott and José María Beroy`s official adaptation to comic book adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera by Andrew LLoyd Webber (Titan Books 2021).
