Matti Hagelberg (b. 1964) is a well-established comic artist whose distinctive style and technique are noted internationally. In France, Hagelberg is represented by the most prominent publisher of new comics, L’Association. Among Hagelberg’s better known works are Kekkonen (2004), Silvia Regina (2010) and the 1500-page postmodern sci-fi epic Läskimooses (2021), which was awarded the Kirjataide prize for most beautiful book of the year. Hagelberg has also been awarded the Puupää hat in 1997 and the Suomi prize in 2012. His works have been translated into several different languages.
