Comics artist Milla Paloniemi (b. 1983) comes from Jalasjärvi, Ostrobothnia. Paloniemi is famous for her cult comic The Cursing Hedgehog, which was awarded the Comics-Finlandia prize in 2008. Once only a lecture notebook doodle, the energetically cursing hedgehog has grown into a phenomenon that has captivated readers in Finland and beyond.
