Finns have had good luck when it comes to comics translations. The most important classics in the field have been translated with care, not underestimating the reader’s intelligence, but with genuine expertise and love for comics. The results are visible. For example, the Aku Ankka magazine, which has been awarded many times for its linguistic merits, taught most of us to read – more than comics. The new generation of translators continues on the solid foundation laid by master translators, even though translated comics are not at their best right now either.
