Patricio García Ducha will take part in Helsinki Comics Festival programme as a remote guest.
Patricio García Ducha was born in Seville, but has spent his entire life between the islands of La Palma and Sta. Cruz de Tenerife (Canary Islands). He studied Pedagogy at the University of La Laguna, and worked as a cultural manager in the Department of Youth of the Government of the Canary Islands, launching a regional comic contest and several exhibitions of Canarian authors. He currently develops his professional activity in the Department of Minors.
Already at the University he began to write about comics in fanzines and newspapers, especially in La Gaceta de Canarias with a page that, on a weekly basis, was published for more than ten years.
He collaborated in the first editions of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife International Comic Festival, of which he assumed the Direction in nine of its editions, until in 2007 it was removed from the island’s cultural agenda. After recovering the event, he is a regular collaborator, as well as the activities that are organized within the Foundation for the Promotion and Study of Narrative in Images.
As a writer, he started the comic strips Dirección General of political news with Roberto Burgazzoli and Angel Marrero, and La Venta de Floro, a traditional strip with Eduardo González which has been published in the newspaper La Opinion de Tenerife for over 11 years.
Patricio García Ducha is considered one of the greatest and best comics experts in the Canary Islands, which is why he has participated in multiple talks and conferences, written the prologue to dozens of graphic editions, as well as being the curator of more than a hundred exhibitions and Jury of various competitions, including the Barcelona Comic Festival on several occasions.
