Sirpa Alkunen is a literary translator specialising in translating works into Finnish. She graduated with a Master of Philosophy degree from the University of Tampere in 1996. Since 2002, she has been translating comic books alongside other translation projects. Her earliest comic translations include The Phantom in the Mustanaamio magazine from 2002 to 2010, and since then, she has translated various Mustanaamio comic albums approximately once a year. Other comic translations by Alkunen include titles such as Vinossa, Bamse magazine, Ranma, Dragon Ball Z, Digimon magazine, Mira, and Pökäle. She also holds positions of trust, currently serving as the chairperson of Forum Artis, a collaborative organisation for the visual arts. Alkunen’s special skill is knowing what kind of voice The Phantom has, having spoken with him in her dreams.
