Finnish Comics Society
Helsinki Comics Festival is Finland’s most international comics event, which has been organized by Finnish Comic Society since 1979.
Since its founding, Finnish Comics Society is an association of makers, readers, collectors and researchers of comics. The society presents comics both to the wider public as well as to the cultural establishment.
Finnish Comics Society publishes magazine Sarjainfo, which is the only magazine in Finland focusing on the comics field. Since 1972 the Society has annually awarded the Puupäähattu prize to an established Finnish comics artist. The Comics Center (Sarjakuvakeskus in Finnish) organises comics courses for both beginners and professionals. It is also possible to order comics courses and other services from centre.
In recent years the association has been active in launching several new cultural export projects.
