Apila Pepita Kaivo-oja (born 1991) is a comics artist, illustrator and tattoo artist from Siilinjärvi in ​​North Savo. Apila has studied graphic design at Aalto University. Lately, Apila has mainly illustrated children’s books (e.g. the Kuuilma series for Kumma publishing) and tattooed at Studio Nokkasiili in Helsinki. Apila’s comics defy the traditions of comics storytelling with their little text and a lack of traditional panel division. Her colourful works are created from a feminist point of view and often deal with gender and sexual minorities.
