The Wild and Somewhat Improbable Literary History of the Adult Comics Publisher Epix
Robert Aman is a comics scholar and senior associate professor at Linköping University. He has written several books on the comics medium, including the award-winning När Fantomen blev svensk: vänsterns världsbild i trikå (Daidalos). His latest book, Serier för vuxna: Epix och den svenska serierevolutionen (Lystring), has been described in the media as a “groundbreaking work in comics history.”
The critically acclaimed work Serier för vuxna tells a wild and somewhat improbable literary history of the adult comics publisher Epix, which revolutionized Swedish comics culture in the 1980s with magazines like Epix, Pox, and Tung Metall – all led by the eccentric publisher Horst Schröder. The book tells a story of a group of young visionaries convinced that comics are meant for something greater.
