Lorena Azpiri will take part in Helsinki Comics Festival programme as a remote guest.
Lorena Azpiri (Madrid, 1985) is an illustrator with a degree in Fine Arts who defines herself as a freak by vocation. Winner of the revelation artist award at ImaginaMálaga 2011, Lorena has specialized in digital art and humorous style, but her versatility means that she can change registers without any problem.
Azpiri is the cover artist of several ”retro” style videogames as well as being the winner of the award for the best cover in Amstrad Eterno. In turn, she has been responsible for others graphic works, comic pages for various editorial projects, as well as illustrations for magazines. In the field of illustration, Azpiri is responsible for those that accompany a good handful of children’s stories. Titles such as Sombra (Apache Libros), Once Upon a Time a Story (RBA), or Candela’s Question (DEscript Ediciones) have been fortunate to have illustrations created by her and, in some cases, with texts written by her sister Diana, who has been collaborating with for decades. Board games such as Ratville (Ediciones Primigenio), Alice (Gen-X) and Omm (Editales) have also relied on her talent to illustrate their graphic side.
Currently Azpiri works for the video game studio MansionGames in the creation of the game OperationHighjump: The Fall of Berlin.
