Who lifted the lid off of Hell? It’s warm down here. Dark and cosy. People are seeking refuge from hollow affirmations and rubber bullets. Real bullets. Bombs. The longest night has just started, nobody is looking for us, nobody will notice that we are gone until dawn. In the cover of darkness, wrapped up in shadow, a clandestine operation, a little innocent dream – meaningful, productive work. Hell has a vast network of tunnels, friends are digging their way to friends, kissing when they meet, wrestling together on the muddy floor. Muddy, grumpy, rude. The only combination of moods available are naive–sarcastic, despair–euphoria, determination–anxiety. Who cares as long as we have this? The workshop is on fire! It bubbles, hisses, crackles, and burns. Hands and legs and mouths and black eyes. Real things. Friends work together, images are traveling, ink and paper piling up, real things, born from long hours of uninterrupted work. The longest night is the most creative night, a night without end, a night without deadlines, nobody has to get up in the morning, there are no day jobs, we continue as long as our bodies can bear it and ideas dance, there is infinite time, time has ceased to exist. Cease fire, cease time, leave us alone and we will do what we were always meant to do.

Longest Night is a screen printing workshop, gallery, and shop in Kortedala, Gothenburg, that prints art with the most interesting artists they know.
