Geezers Creative Space, Molotow Finland (Teollisuuskatu 16, 00510 Helsinki)
September 1–28, 2026, Mon–Fri 10 am–6 pm, Sat 11 am–4 pm
Opening event on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 4 pm
In the comics created by students of Helsinki Upper Secondary School of Visual Arts (Helsingin kuvataidelukio), people are together, helping, caring, and parting ways. The stories depict everyday life and celebrations, brushing teeth together, and enjoying life. Being together can sometimes also be exhausting; social batteries run out, and then it’s good to be alone. Despite everything, sharing life with others remains rewarding and valuable.
The comics in the exhibition have been created by Ella Blom, Lumi Dass, Teemu Elo, Lumi Gregory, Selma Hyvönen, Emilia Härkönen, Kerttu Karppinen, Freija Kauranen, Moona Kituniemi, Unni Lauronen, Otto Leiwo, Ilmari Marjamäki, Anfisa Monikainen, Victoria Pärnapuu, Heini Rauha, Pihla Ruuth, Eddie Suomalainen, Kai Thomson, Tyyne Toivonen, and Emilia Tuokila.
Helsinki Upper Secondary School of Visual Arts is a vibrant hundred-year-old institution. The school has 750 students enrolled in both art and general study programmes. The school has a national special mission in art education. The school is located in two separate buildings. The main school is in Kallio at Torkkelinkatu 6. In the fall of 2025, the school gained a new branch at Kruununhaka, Siltavuorenpenger 10. In the new premises on Siltavuorenpenger, there are classrooms for regular courses as well as for ceramics, photography, textile art, printmaking, sculpture, and film education. The exhibition is part of the Helsinki Comics Festival programme.
