The ambitious Sarjakuva 2026 project, taking place in France, includes six different exhibitions. Additionally, a publication called Palapeli features new comics by 13 Finnish comics artists, and Harri Römpötti authors Plein les yeux, the first French-language non-fiction book about contemporary Finnish comics. As part of the project, around 30 Finnish comics artists are invited to France during 2026.
Several events are scheduled throughout the year. The opening of the project took place from March 26 to 29 in Corsica during BD à Bastia, with an exhibition by six artists. The Aix-en-Provence Les Rencontres du 9e Art paid tribute to the Finnish Kutikuti artist collective in late April, from the 24th to the 26th. The most comprehensive event of the year will be held in Paris from September 25 to 27 during the Formula Bula Festival.
