Julie Doucet was born in 1965 in Montreal. After completing a certificate in printmaking at Université du Québec à Montréal, she focused on creating autobiographical comics, which have been translated into several languages. Despite her success, Doucet abandoned the medium in 1999 and went back to the practice of printmaking. Since, she has produced artist’s books while continuing working with words and images. In 2022, Doucet received the Grand Prix at the Angoulême International Comics Festival.
